New developments have emerged with how the state of Nevada is dealing with the spread of COVID-19, or coronavirus. Last night, Governor Sisolak gave updates for state employees and issued an emergency resolution to expand paid administrative leave for state employees. Governor Sisolak also directed state department directors to plan for closures of state offices, wind down in-person public services and move to online or phone services as soon as possible.

Be advised, each department or agency will direct employees where and when to report to their workplaces and how work shall be completed. Please be on the lookout for those directives from the respective directors of your departments/agencies. These changes are in motion and may take some time to get fully sorted, but please know that they soon will be.

Many of our jobs are essential services that must continue regardless of circumstances. As always, Nevada state employees step up to take care of our communities; because public service is who we are and what we do.

Undoubtably, the uncertainty of these times can cause fear and panic. As Nevadans, we are battle born and battle tested. Together, we will weather what comes our way.

Additional social restrictions have been placed statewide

Please check your local school district website for up-to-date information on closures and school meal programs:

Many libraries and community centers across the state have closed, please call ahead.

As of Sunday night, The Wynn, The Encore, and MGM properties are closing for two weeks.

More information can be found on the state’s official health response website: https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov

We will continue to monitor the situation and relay to you any information. Please check our AFSCME Local 4041 Facebook page and Twitter for up-to-date information.
